The conference is over: other people are better placed than I am to say how successful it was. What I know for sure is that I spent time with good friends, ate wonderful meals, drank lovely wine - though never too much - and watched new friendships form as people found ways they were connected to each other, and learned that not only are they not alone in this journey, there are people who want to travel right at their side every step of the way.

Now that the conference is over, it would be great to have you check in to say you were there, and better still, if you could leave your comments in order that we can improve our offering for the next conference.

I booked my room in the Marriott Hotel Milan today for the 3rd to the 5th August. I did so with a feeling of gratitude that I have managed to find the money to go and feel a part of this virtual registry that has been so important in mine, my son's and our family's lives. I also have a slightly heavy heart, on the back of the sad news of the passing of one of the founders of the Chromosome 18 European Registry, Chris Wilkinson. The man who made it possible for us non-American families to find a way to meet, learn, smile, emote and join together just as the American members do.
