Chromosome 18 Europe

On 14th April 2012, there are 100+ people meeting at Mount Snowdon, to take part in a sponsored climb up Snowdon. We are all walking up the Llanberis route as we find this is a steady climb! We have organised this walk to raise awareness of Chromosome 18 Registry Europe and also to raise funds to support the charity in order to help affected children and their families find answers through research and each other!!

Please feel free to join us on this challenge as we did the same event last year on the 26th March 2011 and it was an amazing day out for everyone involved!! Please bear in mind it is a tough climb, but many people of various skill levels attempted last year and achieved it!!

Below are a few details about the climb on Saturday 14th April.

The Meeting Point
We will be meeting at:
Stefans Cottage
Pennceunant Isaf
Snowdon Path
Llanberis
Gwynedd

We would like to start the climb at 10.30 am, so arrive any time before 10am, to enjoy Leila’s gorgeous muffins, and of course a brew and registration !

Parking
There is a car park situated opposite Snowdon Mountain Railway Station which would be a suitable place for everyone to park. Once parked if you come out of the railway station and turn left towards the Royal Victoria Hotel.
As you get to the Hotel there is a roundabout, of which if you cross the road safely the road opposite is called Victoria Terrace, head up this road which will then bring you to the Registration point, which is also the start of the walk!!

Refreshments
There is a café halfway up Snowdon if anyone would like to stop for a break, but the new café at the top is the one we are all aiming for. The same arrangements as last year with regards to refreshments will apply again this year. My good friend Leila will be baking homemade muffins, soup and sandwiches which i think will be just as gorgeous this year as it was last. There will also be tea, coffee and beers to purchase at Stefan’s Cafe.

Clothing
Please choose appropriate clothing and footwear for the climb and prepare for all weather conditions. We will be supplying Hi Visual vests with an advert on to go over any outer clothing. We also have balloons tied to us again with the chromosome 18 registry advert on, this looks amazing as you eventually see a trail of balloons climbing up the mountain, it also gets people talking and asking us what we are all about!........ Hence raising awareness !

So let’s all have a top time as we had an amazing time last year with many good memories.
